Species Status:
Semi-Open You are allowed to make your own common Nebubat but it can not be evolved into a Biter or Dustie. You do not have to ask permission, but you must send it to me for my approval to make sure it follows the species guidelines! Nebubats are a species of bat that live far away in a mysterious undiscovered galaxy. They are quite shy albeit vain, and prefer to spend their time in small colonies which appear as constellations in the galaxy. These adorable little critters fly through space and eat a diet consisting of stardust and moon-rock candy. Some Nebubats are born with a star-shaped nose, and can attract the remnants of stardust to their tail and help it regrow into a new startlet. These Dusties are quite proud of their budding nebulas and very protective when they are threatened. Common Nebubats born without the ability to grow stars are often bitter and jealous, due to their vain nature. These Nebubats known as "Biters" will attack a Dustie's starlet trying to steal it for themselves. If a Biter succeeds in severing the starlet from a Dustie the energy released will turn them into an evil nasty nebutat that feeds on the energy of stars.
Common Nebubats
Common Nebubats are simple little critters with round leaf noses that fly through the milky way galaxy. They are often jealous of Dusties that can grow stars and instead take pride in their own colorful light shows. They fly through the sky herding stars under their wings and create beautiful constellations and clouds of twinkling energy in the cosmos.
Dustie
Dusties are the nurturers of the cosmos, and caregivers to the stars. They were born with the unique ability to collect bits of stardust around themselves and help starlets regrow. As their starlets grow they gather together to form beautiful constellations in the night sky.
Biter
Biters are former common nebubats that crushed the nebula of a Dustie and ate the star's energy. The energy for the starlet turned them into bitter monsters. Biters have hollow eyes, webbed wings, short horns, and skull masks.
Nebubat Life CycleThe Nebubats are as old as the stars themselves, existing in a continuous cycle of rebirth. From birth, a nebubat may take two forms, a Common or a Dustie nebubat.
Common NebubatThese are the "star shepherds" they paint the galaxies with beautiful constellations and light shows. They do not have the potential to create stars themselves, but instead shepherd them into the constellations seen above in the night skies. Common Nebubats feed off small portions of star dust from recently deceased stars and moon rock or crater candies. These nebubats live to be several hundred years old but eventually die, the death of a common nebubat releases the star dust they've consumed back into the atmosphere to create new stars.
Dustie NebubatDustie Nebubats are born with a shimmery glob of stardust at the end of their tails. This star dust builds in energy as it grows and eventually attracts more and more stardust to the Nebubat. By the time they are 50 years old a Dustie will have enough star dust collected to begin condensing it into a tiny starlet. As Dusties continue to grow their tail star becomes increasingly larger in size, it may take several hundred years for the star to grow to maturity and once it does it breaks off and joins the stars floating in the galaxies. Dusties live to be thousands of years old, as they are continuously nurturing new starlets and feed off of each other's star dust and energies.
While the Nebubats take these two forms from birth, there is one other form they are known to take, Biters.
Biter NebubatBiters are very jealous mean creatures that steal the star dust of others. If a Biter crushes a starlet it releases large amounts of star energy that change the nebubat into an mischievous nasty critter. In order to survive, Biters must continually harvest more and more star dust or they will cease to exist. Due to all the negative energies built up in a Biter, when a Biter dies it collapses in on itself leaving a small black hole in its wake that drags star dust into it. Because Biters are dependent solely on star dust to survive, little is known about their lifespan.
